Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS) Test
Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS) is a crucial rock mechanical properties used to determine the compressive strength of rock samples. The UCS test is also used in rock mechanics, construction, and mining to characterize material strength, assess deformation behavior, and inform design decisions. In oil and gas field, UCS is a key parameter in drilling and simulation of oil and gas wells. It helps engineers assess failure parameter, in conjunction with friction angle such as in wellbore stability, some sand failure calculations, and fracturing operations.

Equipment:
The Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS) tests are performed using a compression machine with servo-controlled. Sample deformations are measured using Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs) system.
- Core cell
- Axial stress
- Confined stress set to zero (not turned on).
- Axial deformation sensor
- Sensor to measure lateral deformation
- PC software for various controls
