“Advance Geomechanics, Reservoir Characterization and Imaging Specialist”

Thermal Conductivity Meter

Measuring thermal conductivity on core samples provides essential data for understanding how heat moves through the Earth's subsurface. The direct outputs of the measurementswere the heat flow and the temperature gradient of the rock. Once we provided the heat flow and temperature gradient, the thermal conductivity of the rock sample.

 Sample Requirement:
  • Shape : Cylindrical core plug
  • Standart diameter :1.5 inch
  • Minimum Length : 2 inch

The measurement of thermal conductivity:

  • There are many temperature sensors in the equipment, and at least five temperature sensors should
  • be attached to a sample of rocks to measure heat flow accurately.
  • The equipment also has hot and cold reservoirs.
  • The temperature of the water in the hot reservoir was kept constant or at a steady-state temperature by using a digital controller.

Example Output - Thermal Conductivity

Example Output - Specific Heat Capacity

Specific heat capacity tells us how much heat is needed to change a material’s temperature. It's crucial for understanding thermal behavior, energy storage, and heat transfer in rock sample.
